Previews of 24 Panels Anthology from Alan Moore, Melinda Gebbie, Laurie Penny, Gavin Mitchell, Alex De Campi, Ted Brandt, and More

Alan Moore is currently writing League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, published by IDW/Top Shelf/Knockabout and Cinema Purgatorio for Bleeding Cool's publisher, Avatar Press. But in November, with his wife Melinda Gebbie, he will also be contributing to an anthology from Image Comics. 24 Panels as a memorial, fundraiser and awareness raiser regarding issues around the Grenfell Tower disaster in London last year.

And, in imagery released to the Guardian newspaper, he'll come out swinging against the recently-Foreign Secretary and previous mayor of London, Boris Johnson.

One of 12 sets of contributors, each telling a story in 24 panels or fewer, the comic will raise money for those affected by the fire that killed 72 people last year. Moore and Gebbie's comic "If Einstein's Right …" looks at various people's lives — including Boris. URL links are Bleeding Cool's own, for poetical context.

That same year a Bullingdon club clown

swears that he'll leave fire services alone,

Then, three years later, cuts them to the bone,

Says, 'Get stuffed' as ten stations are closed down

And twenty-seven engines fade from view.

He also shall endure forevermore.

His treacheries caught in time's amber, for

Disgrace and shame are both eternal, too.

Kieron Gillen, curator of the comic calls it "one of the most politically charged pieces in the book" and that "obviously having a contribution from Alan and Melinda is a huge deal. It's essentially an illustrated poem which is about trying to offer comfort to those who need it, and a controlled and precise anger at the establishment."

Other contributors include Human Child by Laurie Penny, Gavin Mitchell, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.
