A Comic Show – Old Man Logan & Lesbian Werewolves!
Aaron Haaland writes,
Hey Fandom! I'm back with a fat stack of New Comics Now! First up is Old Man Logan #1 by Jeff Lemire. This is kind of like the movie Memento with a mutant. OML is in the current Marvel timeline with a shaky memory and a hit list of bad guys to off so that his future never comes to pass. It's got plenty of action and heart. I mean the feels are pretty tragic, but Old Man Logan is like the saddest country song ever made into a comic. Also, Soule's Daredevil #3 didn't disappoint, and I'm starting to like DD's protege.
DC's Suicide Squad's Most Wanted: Deadshot & Katana #1 is more that a super long title, the issue is 40 pages. Yes, it's $4.99. But it's literally the size of two $2.99 DC books, so you're sort of saving $1.
AfterShock and Justin Jordan's Strayer is a fun fantasy book about a monster killer who's saving a world he could care less about. Our time, with all it's problems, is known as the era of dreams to these people. Some long for the return of that world, but Strayer just wants to drink, get paid, and sleep somewhere warm. Valiant's Faith #1 is a book who's time has come! I've always loved Faith, she's as big of a nerd as us, and she has charm to spare. Oh, and Invader Zim volume one is out this week.
Image has a solid showing with some of my favorites like Deadly Class, Southern Bastards, Ringside, and Saga. And I'm going to try to sell everyone who comes in for Saga on Si Spurrier's Cry Havoc #1! It's not just a book about a lesbian werewolf at war, except it is. I mean lesbian-werewolf-in-Afghanistan, are you in or out?!
