A Rival To Spain's El Jueves To Launch This Week, After Royal Pulping
Bleeding Cool has been following the pulping of last week's issue of El Jueves, the Spanish satirical magazine in the style of Britain's Private Eye, as he publishers objected to the cover cartoon depicting the abdicating king handing over a shit-filled crown to his son. Many cartoonists and contributors walked out in protest and suggested that they would be creating a rival publication.
Well, they've been quick off the mark.
Ex-cartoonist of El Jueves, José Rubio Malagón published this picture yesterday on Facebook.
Translated (more or less) it reads:
ATTENTION EVERYONE!
The authors who have resigned from El Jueves because of you-know-what are preparing a comic-book in order to welcome Felipe VI that will be on sale next Wednesday 18th of June.
On Monday we will tell you all the details!
A new king, a new comic book, created by the resigning and objecting cartoonists from El Jueves? We look forward to finding out… and getting a translation.
