Ales Kot Would Like Lots Of People To Buy Into Wolf – And Also Buy Wolf
Ales Kot would like to remind you about his new Image comic book title Wolf he is creating with Matt Taylor and Lee Loughbridge. While he sees his most recent Image title Material as something idiosyncratic, he believes Wolf has the potential to be a big blockbuster mainstream hit with a long run, something like Saga, Walking Dead or Chew. Of course everyone says that, true or not. They cry "Wolf".
I am hilarious, aren't I?
Sorry, anyway, he's getting most antsy as the Final Order Cut-Off date, the last day that comic stores can increase their advance reorders of a title without incurring a penalty, is fast approaching. As in, on Monday. Because a good launch will increase the odds of a good run.
So he's really like people to pop by, e-mail or call their local store and take a chance on Wolf #1, out on July 22nd. Maybe use the Diamond order code MAY 150550 to make their retailer's life easier.
His pitch is this.
Wolf is about a suicidal paranormal investigator who meets a young girl who might just be the key to the impending apocalypse. It's about vampires, werewolves, concrete, desert, blood and magic. It's also about California, Los Angeles, and the ways we choose to define ourselves. It's also, perhaps most importantly, about myths.
He has these pages.
He has a bunch of interviews talking about the comic on Entertainment Weekly, Bleeding Cool (that's us), Comic Book Resources and Comic Vine, and podcasts with Sequart, Comical and Comic Book City and he has been retweeting a bunch of praise from early readers, which appeared on twitter, so if you look at his feed and scroll back a few days, you'll find them.
If it doesn't work, he won't by crying wolf. He'll just be crying.
And he's too pretty to cry…
