Aquaman Gets A New Love Interest Today – Poor Mera…. (SPOILERS)
It may not be a first issue relaunch. But the massive Part 1 on the cover indicates that DC Comics marketing team really wish it was. With the movie in the cinemas, this new storey by new team Kelly Sue DeConnick, Robson Rocha and Daniel Henriques, courtesy of Brian Bendis smoothing the way, begins anew. Lost-style. With an island in the sea home to people who have come there… somehow. DC Comics reader know that Aquaman was swept to a distant reality at the end of Drowned Earth, well everyone here seems o have made a similar journey. And who knows what – or remembers what – is an issue.
And for Aquaman, there is certainly someone he has his eye on, whether he will admit it or not.
Callie. And a Mera he has forgotten despite his promises last week…
And Callie has a name for him too.
Arausio. Begins with an A, which was on his belt buckle when he washed up.
Ooh, bit of a giveaway there.
Although somehow between being washed up in Drowned Earth…
…and in Aquaman #43, he managed to get his clothes on. And the weather to whip up a storm.
Either way, Callie and Arausio are star crossed lovers, both with mysterious pasts, and clearly flung together.
Although there may be some complications mixed up in the romantic soup as it is prepared…
Don't look in the soup, Arausio, don't look in the soup…
AQUAMAN #43

The tides turn for the Sea King with a new creative team! Star scribe Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain Marvel, Pretty Deadly) and red-hot artist Robson Rocha (TEEN TITANS, SUPERGIRL) take the rudder to steer Aquaman into uncharted waters. In the wake of "Drowned Earth," an amnesiac Arthur washes ashore on a remote island, and ends up being cared for by a young woman named Callie, who's just a little TOO curious for comfort. And as a lifetime of horror movies has taught us, there's something strange going on in this island village. Aquaman needs to come to his senses quickly…or he might wind up sleeping with the fishes instead of chatting with them.
