Batman, Nightwing, Robin & Spawn … The Back Order List 3/18/2020
Every week your Local Comic Book shop gets in the weekly assortment of comics, trades, posters, action figures, and other goodies from Diamond. Now some of these goodies sell our fast from your LCBS, so Tuesday and Wednesday LCBS retailers get on the phone (more often the computer) and let Diamond know they need more. Or sometimes they go to unpack those Diamond boxes and find items missing, or too damaged to sell (it does happen), retailers have to let Diamond know. However, the phrase no retailer likes to hear when they go to report those shortages, damages, or reorders is: "Sorry that item is on back order", which means there are no more copies to send out from the Diamond warehouse.
The third week of March brought the Back Order List into the Covid-19 zone, as Diamond began working from home, making getting a phone call in to place orders or report problems very difficult. We all know as the trend of infections has gotten worse, foot traffic and business has gone down or disappeared, making the Back Order List pretty small this week. The biggest oddity on the Back Order List is not the amount of comics on it, but the fact not one Marvel book went on the Back Order List this week …
The Batman Family and DC dominated the Back Order List with Batman #91's Cardstock Variant Cover on Back Order (though the normal cover was still available to replace any damaged copies).
Nightwing #70 Main Cover and
Nightwing #70 Variant Cover
both made the Back Order list as everyone knew it would, having long sold out with the upcoming Joker War starting soon.
Despite the $9.99 price tag almost every cover for the Robin 80th Anniversary Super Spectacular #1 went on the Back Order List. Starting with the Main Cover,
1940's Variant
1950's Variant
1970's Variant
1990's Variant
2000's Variant
2010's Variant
all on the Back Order List.
Image also got some Back Order List action as Spawn #306 Main Cover,
And Spawn #306 Cover D by Todd McFarlane himself
both go to the Back Order List.
So if you are able to go to your LCBS and see any of these "back order titles" grab them if you want them, because Diamond won't be sending anything for a while, and when they can they won't be able to send any more copies of these books for sure…
