Bill Jemas Revives 'Yoshida' Pseudonym for Be Wawa, Lion Queen, Truth?
Bill Jemas is the publisher of new New York comics publisher Artists, Writers & Artisans, funded by Murdochs, with former Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso. AWA is launching a series of digital comic books, for free, embedded below.
We have the first three chapters of Lion Queen drawn by Davide Puppo, Mazflan Araujo, Iliana Jimez, Sami Brice and written by Yoshida. We have two chapters of Truth by Davide Puppo, Mazflan Araujo, Ryan Conners and written by Yoshida. We have two chapters of Be Wawa drawn by Stan Chaou, Mazflan Araujo, Iliana Jimez, and written by Yoshida
Who is this mysterious Yoshida? I am told it is none other than Bill Jemas himself. It is notable that C.B. Cebulski wrote Marvel Comics titles using the pseudonym Akira Yoshida both when Bill Jemas was publisher and when Azel Alonso was EIC, against company guideline and without their knowledge. It was something he finally admitted to, to Bleeding Cool, before becoming EIC at the publisher. Could this be an unusually timed dig at CB Cebulski for this crime from his former bosses?
Here are the comics in question, embedded. They are part of a new line at AWA called iPOP Comics that will be officially launched later today. They appear take on aspects of traditional storytelling, given new comic book twists, and for a general mobile phone-reading audience and have been arranged into vertical strips. Whether or not now is the right time to revive the Yoshida pseudonym is another matter, as well as wondering just how much of a personal dig it may be intended as, towards their New York comic book publishing rivals.
Lion Queen chapters 1 to 3.
Truth chapters 1 and 2 and a Creators Wanted video.
Be Wawa chapters 1 and 2
