Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 5th July 2015 – We Stand On Secret Wars

CI1WZ5eWUAAZ47Y (1)This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

The big news will be the successful launch of Brian K Vaughan and Steve Skroce's We Stand On Guard from Image Comics knocking out everything but the Star Wars and Secret Wars, and beating plenty of those too. DC Comics don't get a single comic in the top ten – but IDW does!

  • 1. Secret Wars #4
  • 2. Darth Vader #7
  • 3. We Stand On Guard #1
  • 4. Amazing Spider-Man #19.1
  • 5. Princess Leia #7
  • 6. A-Force #2
  • 7. Years Of Future Past #2
  • 8. Ultimate End #14
  • 9. Onyx #1
  • 10. Groot #2

Thanks to the following retailers

We Stand on Guard REALLY surprised us!
Secret Wars did not.

>Well, the Dark side of the force prevails beating out Secret wars by 4 comics .   Groot takes 3rd and ASM 19.1 surprising sells out at 4th.  Barb Wire takes #5 but it helps with a Hughes cover. Chew and Outcast duke it out for #6 and #7 and marvel finishes out the last 3 spots.  Dc comics continues to flounder and their core base has moved over to marvel comics.  Little indies continue to sell out and trades continue to sell at a fast past.

The week's most impresssive debut, without a doubt, is the superb We Stand on Guard #1, which gives Secret Wars a run for its money. In addition to Secret Wars, Marvel gets two Star Wars books and three Secret Wars tie-ins into the Top Ten.DC only gets 1 book in the top ten, and it barely makes it. Every other DC books has plummeted to levels unseen since the dreariest pre-New-52 years. Goobye New 52, hello New Failure Too.

Strong sales for early New 52 Suicide Squad back issues, and continued interest in Dark Horse Star Wars titles–both in comics and in trade. Classic Peter Parker Spider-Man back issue sales are also up as Renew Your Vows #1 reminds readers just how great Peter Parker Spider-Man issues can be.

Secret Wars and Darth Vader out in the same week makes for a very good sales week. No complaints for this week. Across the board everything preformed above expectation or close to what was ordered. Glad Secret Wars 2 finally had a second printing released.

Deathstroke is super hot back issue wise currently. Oddly enough Lobo is picking up steam with demand for his previous comics. No idea why.

Marvel absolutely dominated our sales this week, with both Secret Wars and Darth Vader wiping the floor with the competition. The demand for the next issue of Secret Wars helped sales on the tie-ins as well, as many grabbed the latest tie-ins to go with their copy of the fourth issue. It's also great to see BKV's We Stand On Guard on the list, and in the Top 3 no less!

Great week with 3 books hitting the century mark. Kinda of surprised that Darth Vader #7 did not sell more or perhaps people are waiting to get Star Wars #7 at the same time since the continuity is pretty tight. TMNT did really well and i expect that it will get higher on the list the closer to issue #50 we get.

Batman was the back-issue mover and it was not the New 52 this week. Anything from 1995-2005 was being picked up by the handful, especially prestige format books.
