Comixology Bestseller List – 17th August 2018 – Batman, Justice League, and WicDiv Top Chart

Welcome to the Comixology Bestseller list, your guide to see how well your favorite titles are selling digitally. Every week I'll post the ranking of every new title, plus a ranking of the best selling volumes & graphic novels. As always, I hope you find it interesting and informative.

Slow Wednesday this week, which means many titles get a boost in the rankings. And while DC claimed three out of the top four spots, Marvel got five of the next six, leading to a 5-4-1 Marvel victory in the Top 10. If DC still had a Superman title every week, they would've won this round. Alas, Marvel, who have always beaten DC on quantity, can keep occasionally stealing victories.

It's not all wonderful news for Marvel, as Thor and Tony Stark: Iron Man are showing signs of slipping several issues in, quietly dropping a few spots. Now, this isn't necessarily cause for panic: they're not dropping nearly as fast as other recent Big 2 debuts, and they're still two of Marvel's biggest brands. At the same time, Justice League, which has been out roughly the same amount of time, is still sticking in the spot behind Batman like glue. That's the consistency Marvel needs to aim for.

Although it's partly due to softer competition, Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie should be thrilled The Wicked + The Divine has now risen to No. 3, its best placement yet. Right now it's just behind Walking Dead and Saga for best-selling digital Image comic. In other indie news, Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino's Gideon Falls has crossed a big hurdle and finished its first arc with its audience intact. Many indie books this year have debuted and slid rapidly, but Gideon Falls has always managed to stay in the 20s.

Marvel's Edge of Spider-Geddon has kicked off, and the results are… underwhelming. It debuted at No. 24 in the New Issues section during a slow week, one spot under the last issue of the recently cancelled Batwoman. On one hand, it's still a prelude to the main event and it's already doing better than the lackluster rankings of Venomized. On the other hand, Marvel probably much higher expectations for a Spider-event.
