It's a companion piece to their Action Comics #1000 cover.

Just as with the Action Comics #1000, the Detective Comics #1000 cover homages the 80 years of Batman. It begins with Bob Kane and Bill Finger, going to a mix of Jerry Robinson and Dick Sprang, to Carmine Infantino, Neal Adams, Frank Miller, the New 52 Jim Lee/Greg Capullo combo and the current design of the character.

Not bad for Dan Jurgens, a man who has his own Bathistory, who drew No Man's Land around Detective #735, one of the first appearances of Killer Croc in Batman #359 and the origin of Croc – which happens to be the issue just before Jason Todd's parents were discovered and killed by Croc, leading into Detective #526…

Oh and we also have the colour version of Mico Suayan's Detective Comics #1000 cover for Unknown Comics. You can catch up with that and other Detective Comics #1000 covers ran hereherehere, here, herehere, here, here and here.
