DC Comics' New Method For Reducing Collections
Bleeding Cool reported that DC Comics had announced they were reducing the amount of collections DC Comics publish.
We noticed a few of those going around of late. We also pointed out how they were switching from first-time collections from trade paperbacks to longer, hardcover volumes. And seemed to be killing the Deluxe format in the process. Oh and in some cases, delaying books for what seems like decades, thanks for that Jude.
There now seems to be another route.
DC Comics has cancelled the DC Essential Edition trade paperback of JLA: Tower Of Babel, pointing out that its contents are already published in JLA Vol 4 TPB, here in the UK and here in the USA.
They've also cancelled a new edition of the Batman Year One trade paperback, pointing out that its contents are already published in Batman: Year One Deluxe TPB, here in the UK and here in the USA.
And DC Comics has cancelled the DC Essential Edition trade paperback of Batman: The Black Glove Saga, pointing out that its contents are already published in Batman And Son TPB, here in the UK and here in the USA.
What other DC Comics Collections could be going for the chop? Do we really need a new version of Watchmen or the Dark Knight? Probably, they haven't published 3D versions of them yet….
