It's that time of year again! Time to get your hopes up for that big break into comics by submitting an application to DC's 2017 Artists Workshop, only to later have all of your dreams crushed to a pulp when you ultimately don't make the cut, which, statistically speaking, will happen to the vast majority of applicants! Yay!

"Following a highly successful inaugural year that saw DC Workshop alum receiving numerous assignments on our books, we're excited to embark upon a new search for up and coming talent with the 2017 Workshops," stated DC Entertainment Vice President of Talent Development, Bobbie Chase, in a press release, describing the program which accepted just 7 applicants in 2015 and 8 in 2016, out of all the up and coming comic book artists in the entire world, which is a really tiny number, if you think about it. But hey, what have you got to lose?

Led by an all-star talent line-up including Jim Lee, Scott Snyder, Klaus Janson and Andy Kubert, the workshops are designed to "give access and a voice to new and prospective talent, providing an opportunity to showcase their work following intensive DC workshop sessions." It's an amazing opportunity from a professional perspective, and also from a personal perspective when it comes to working with industry legends, and it would be foolish not to at least try, even though, in all probability, you will almost certainly be dealt a devastating blow to your self esteem when the rejection letter finally arrives after months of hopeful anticipation.

Applications will be accepted until March 1, so get yours in today by visiting the DC Talent Workshop website. If you're a writer, don't worry. Applications for the writer workshop will begin on March 1, and the pool of applicants will likely be exponentially larger, making your chances of getting accepted even lower, and pretty much ensuring that you will end up utterly heartbroken after months of imagining how great it will be to finally have your talent recognized and validated by Scott Snyder himself. Oof, what a letdown that will be!

Still, it's worth a shot.

Good luck everyone, and you're welcome in advance for the pep talk.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
