Through The Eyes Of An Elephant-Man
By R. Alan Brooks
Unsatisfied with our jobs, we both quit with the goal to make comics full time.
And we hadn't even met yet.
I'm R. Alan Brooks, and I met Matt Strackbein at a birthday party for a mutual friend.
"You quit your job to make comics?!?" we both said to each other in surprise, equally pleased to meet someone else crazy enough to make that same decision.
Then, it turned out that we had more in common than just making comic books. We were both musicians, and frankly, we connected over too many subjects to list here.
It was clear that we had to work together, so we did! We treated it like a job, came up with a concept: me writing, and Matt handling colors and lettering. We successfully raised money through a Kickstarter and hired artist, Dion Harris, which rounded out our trio. And man, it's been an incredible ride so far!
The strength of our collaboration and friendship only increases as we finish our comic, The Burning Metronome, a supernatural murder mystery deconstructing the dark side of humanity. Characters who are anything but what they seem struggle to come to terms with the strange creatures they now live amongst…human beings!
I gotta tell you, it's crazy how it all started, with the insane decision to quit our jobs, but less than a year later, it's actually paying off!
The Burning Metronome is a 6-part comic book series, basically The Twilight Zone meets The Usual Suspects, and it'll be available as a 160pg hardcover in the spring of 2017.
The first is issue is available on our site, www.theburningmetronome.com. The first 10 orders from Bleeding Cool readers will receive a free 24 x 36 poster of The Burning Metronome!
