During Arf! Festival, the Comic Book Festival of Rome last weekend, Frank Quitely announced that he is working as writer and artist on Homemade Hitman, an eight-page story that will be part of a forthcoming anthology probably from Image Comics.
During a panel alongside Giuseppe Palumbo conducted by Riccardo Corbo, Quitely said that the main character is the opposite of Batman: both are without super powers, but while Bruce Wayne has the money to equip himself with hyper-tech equipment, this hitman does not. Nor has Bat-training or Bat-attitude (battitude?) and therefore creates everything at home. He also has to start his career off as a hitman – though he has never killed before.
Quitely said that the comic will not reveal the character's full background and hopes to continue his adventures with other stories. The intended publication is an anthology featureing a shared universe of characters and public response will decide what series will continue in their own right in the future.
Only eight pages for now, but he'll take some months to finish them, because Quitely has other artistic commitments in progress. Quitely has stated that he currently has no current plans to collaborate with either Marvel and DC Comics.
