Mark Landry writes,

It's been nearly a year since Bleeding Cool reported that Buffy and Serenity artist Georges Jeanty was mentoring my post-Katrina comic miniseries, Bloodthirsty: One Nation Under Water. We were in the middle of the Kickstarter campaign, and the post from Bleeding Cool helped put us over the top.

A lot has happened in the 11 months since that post: I got married to the most amazing woman, a TV movie I co-wrote (Teen Beach Movie) became a major hit on The Disney Channel, and Issue 1 of Bloodthirsty has been completed! Whew!

Georges has proven to be more than a capable mentor; he's also become a good friend. And Bloodthirsty wouldn't be nearly at the level it is today without his careful and honest guidance.

With Issue 1 complete, and out to publishers for consideration this very moment, I wanted to share the first few pages with all of you, and to say "thank you!" for helping put us over the top of our fundraising goal almost a year ago.

In the following interview on Aaron Fristik's The Comic Run podcast, Aaron and I go into detail about the process of getting to this point in the comic's production, Eric Stephenson's controversial remarks about licensed characters vs. new characters, corruption, non-vampires, and "white guys in tights."
