How Captain America: Steve Rogers #2 Rewrites Captain America: Sam Wilson #7 (SPOILERS)
And that's how you turn a sentient cosmic entity into Hydra's biggest fan. Through children's books and cuddly toys. Today's Captain America: Steve Rogers #2 explains that whole "Hail Hydra" cliffhanger from last issue.
And also puts a lie to those people claiming that Marvel has backtracked on this plot twist due to external pressure. It takes a long time to create this kind of comic book, and it's also not the kind of comic that can just be relettered to give a different take (see today's Spider-Man/Deadpool #6 for that kind of thing).
This was the scene from Captain America: Sam Wilson #7 a few months ago, in the heart of Pleasant Hill.
We later learned that Father Patrick was the Red Skull incognito. But today's Captain America: Steve Rogers #2 replays these scenes to show just how in control the Red Skull was, still in possession of Professor Xavier's mind-control powers, and puppet mastering the whole thing.
Going up against a hidden Wrecking Crew…
And seeing it from the Skull's point of view.
Getting the Red Skull revelation…
And thus time we get to hear the Skull speak it all out.
And so this scene, that led to such rejoicing at the time…
…now has to be seen in this context.
Thanks to Travis for a typo check.
