It's War Between San Diego And Wizard Over Streaming Video, On Free Comic Book Day
This year's Free Comic Book Day titles are covered in ads for the San Diego Comic Con streaming video service, Comic Con HQ with a free beta signup from Saturday running through this year's San Diego Comic Con. It's a fantastic piece of branding and a very attractive offer. Especially because, since it's Free Comic Book Day, it's free. For now.
They promise daily entertainment news and talk shows, curated favourites from film and TV, BTS and bonus features and both scripted and unscripted series, as well as unbeatable access to comic-con panels and special events.
Well, Wizard World is feeling a little put out. And although they have no Free Comic Book Day presence they have announced that their own streaming service CONtv has expanded its free trial period of VIP streaming service from 30 days to 60 days and those who do pay, will get a CONtv t-shirt previously only available at select Wizard World Comic Cons.
From this Saturday for a one week, fans can use promo code COMICDAY16. And when they purchase a one-month VIP subscription for $4.99 plus tax, CONtv will add two additional free months and send a T-shirt to fans' billing address.
Look at it this way, even if you never even watch the damn thing, you get a shirt out of it.
