Joe Quesada Says House of X #1 Will "Change Everything" in the Marvel Universe

If there's one constant in the world of Marvel Comics, it's "change." It seems like every single time Marvel publishes a super-mega-crossover event, which, by the way, is at least three or four times a year, the Marvel Universe is shaken to its foundations and nothing is ever the same again. To be honest, it's surprising that the Marvel Universe has any foundations left at this point, with all the times they've been shaken. Nevertheless, the upcoming X-Men line-wide relaunch by Jonathan Hickman and artists Pepe Larraz and R.B. Silva is set to shake those foundations one more time, in a way, according to Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, not seen since Grant Morrison shook the Marvel Universe to its foundations during his New X-Men run.

Quesada's tweets provide insight into what appears to be a chaotic creative process at Marvel. Despite the fact that House of X will "change everything in the MU," one of the company's top executives is "still trying to process" it with the book just weeks away from hitting stores. Since we know that Marvel is not prone to engaging in rampant hyperbole when promoting its comics, we must take this at face value and assume that Marvel brass are scrambling to bring the rest of their comics in line with these sweeping changes.

However, it is nice to see that Quesada is willing to set aside his personal differences with Hickman, whom Quesada "loathes," for the greater good of Marvel's comics. In addition, Quesada is so impressed with the coloring work by Marte Gracia, he even suggested firing Richard Isanove and replacing him with Gracia.

Clearly these shakeups will not be confined just to the fictional Marvel Universe.

House of X #1 hits stores on July 24th.

About Jude Terror

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
