HJ-Story's Kickstarter campaign for Vol.1 and 2 launched just a week ago and has achieved the HJ-Story reached its Kickstarter goal and raised $15,000 in just one day. What was amazing wasn't the success of the campaign, but specifically the amazing response from the community has shown that love is still in people's hearts, and unlike all the wonderful cool tech gadget genre projects, "love" can be still be cool too.

I remember 20 or so years ago before the days of internet, when I was a kid. The world that I lived in was much simpler, there wasn't this world of memes or cynicism. Even the news was much less accessible then it is now. This is not to say that I don't enjoy today's internet and technology, but there are times when I miss the simple time when I was young.

There is a important niche in our online always-connected world that people are yearning to be filled – joy. Beyond the cynicism and snark, people crave a simple truth – to love and be love, and embrace the curious life that love creates. HJ-Story was started to remind people the world all over that small moments can mean everything. Moments of silly affection or yearning for your soul mate. Moments of every day sacrifice and humorous surprise. Moments of bravery and compassion. These are the moments, captured in comic form, that make HJ-Story, your story.

I work as a concept artist and illustrator for 15 years and every day I've been drawing and designing badass monsters and character. In my ever day's work, HJ-story started as little doodles that I drew during work, for my girlfriend (now wife) to take mental break from the "more serious" drawings. For her birthday, I decided to make it into a little nice Tumblr blog page to show the collections of doodles that was drawn over the few months that we dated. Totally unexpected, the images were shared and fans quickly increased. Today HJ-Story has close to 250k Likes.

The growing success of HJ-Story, had been a magical journey for me, through the 3 years of HJ-story. Despite the cute warm-loving drawings, as the creator myself, I sometimes forgets the importance of little simple things in life. I've had the honor to receive many emails and messages from those that support HJ-Story. From reading and hearing about the different love stories around the world makes me realize that, despite the cynicism and snark that dominate the internet pop culture today, there're still lots of love around the world.
