Marvel Comics #1 Gets a $30 80th-Anniversary Edition

Back in 1939, Timely Comics published Marvel Comics #1, featuring stories about the Human Torch, Ka-Zar, the Submariner, and more. The price tag? 10 cents. Isnt' inflation a bitch?

In 2019, Marvel will publish an 80th anniversary hardcover edition of Marvel Comics #1, sort of stealing an idea from the Distinguished Competition that they used for Action Comics #1000. The price tag? 30 bucks, true believers!

To be fair, the comic does feature more than just that 10 cent issue. It also collects Saga of the Original Human Torch #1, Marvels #0, and Marvel Comics #1 70th Anniversary Edition. Wait, what? It collects a different reprint of the issue it's reprinting already? Hell, we can't wait for the 90th anniversary when they collect both the 70th and 80th-anniversary editions and charge five thousand dollars!

There's also "retrospective stories, bonus artwork, insightful essays, and more." Well, if the essays are insightful, how can you say no?
