Nerd Food: My Little Pony Rainbow Dash Fizzy Cherry Splash Soda

Staying awake is sometimes difficult, especially at the end of the week. When I'm feeling particularly sluggish, I'll reach for some kind of energy drink. I'm particular to Red Bull, but for this post I decided to pony up the money — $3 — for a My Little Pony Rainbow Dash Fizzy Cherry Splash Soda drink. I'll be up-front: I think My Little Pony is cute. I've enjoyed the comics in the past and have watched the show. Several of my friends have had this in the past and raved about it, so why not?

Excuse the bluntness, but this drink tastes like crap.

Cherry-flavored anything isn't the worst thing in the world, and I don't know what I was expecting. But the light-red drink leaves a very syrupy aftertaste, and I felt like I was drinking straight diabetes. It also didn't wake me up at all, despite being packaged as an energy drink, so I couldn't even perform a half-assed Sonic Ranboom if I tried.

There was potential for this drink, too. Rainbow Dash is a high-octane pony, so this drink could have delivered a real kick. Instead, I just felt bad about myself and questioned all of my life choices. At the very least, dear readers, you can learn from my mistakes. Unless you're absolutely dying to buy everything that has Rainbow Dash on it, don't spend your hard-earned money on My Little Pony Rainbow Dash Fizzy Cherry Splash Soda.
