Kirkman and De Felici's Oblivion Song Gets a $200 Collector's Edition
Whoever predicted Image would come out with a $200 comic book before Marvel is about to be as rich as an early bitcoin adopter. According to an EXCLUSIVE reveal on IGN, Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici's upcoming new comic book, Oblivion Song, will come with a deluxe collectors edition version with a price tag of 200 smackers!
Of course, to The Walking Dead mogul Kirkman, the third most famous person to ever come out of Kentucky (behind Annie Potts and Mary Todd Lincoln), $200 is total chump change, but for the rest of us out here in comicdom, that's a lot of money to plunk down, even for a number one issue. So what do you get for your money?
Well, for one thing, you get a copy of Oblivion Song #1 with a cover by De Felici and a $200 price tag right on the cover. Show it off to your friends who only have the $3.99 version so they know you've got money to burn, baby! Additionally, the collector's edition comes with an art print and a logo pin to stick on your studded jean jacket. Finally, you get both a statue of protagonist Nathan Cole, and a box to put that statue in and take it out of. What a deal!
Oblivion song is a brand-new creator-owned comic by Kirkman and De Felici about moving to the New Jersey suburbs. Check out the series description below:
A decade ago 300,000 citizens of Philadelphia were suddenly lost in Oblivion. The government made every attempt to recover them but after many years they gave up. Nathan Cole… won't. He makes daily trips, risking his life to try and rescue those lost, alone and afraid, living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion. But maybe… Nathan is looking for something else? Why can't he resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?
Be sure to set aside some money over the next few months — maybe return that X-Box you're getting for the holidays, or sell a kidney — so you can afford this comic when it hits stores in March!
