Oregon's Oldest Comics Store Emerald City Comics to Close, Merge With Nostalgia Collectibles
Adam Grimes, owner and operator of Oregon's oldest comic book store, Emerald City Comics, announced that the store was closing. Started by his dad in 1972 (the year I was born), it has been in operation for 47 years. But it seems it won't make its fiftieth birthday. Grimes writes,
After 47 wonderful years, we are closing the doors of Oregon's oldest comic book store's location. We will be merging with Nostalgia Collectibles. My dad (Darrell Grimes) who started both stores always had a dream of Combining his two stores into one, and we are fulfilling that dream 10 blocks away. (1280 Charnelton) that being said, we need to make some space, so we are having a huge sale and moving as soon as 2 weeks
Trade Paperbacks / Half off (or priced lower than half)
Manga / half off
Art books / half off
Posters / half off
Dollar books / half off
Backstock /half off
Single playable cards (pokemon etc) half off
Dvd sets / half off
Sale ends when we have reduced inventory to what we can fit in our new location and storage. If you can't make it but still want to support us, we would really appreciate anyone that reposts this
The sale has been extended, subscriptions are being passed from one store to the other, but Adam is still looking for someone who would like the old store's furniture.
We have extended our closing sale. All previous deals are still on, and we've added 60 percent off trades (still have around a thousand) and we have pulled thousands more backstock from the rafters and are selling them at 50 cents a book. We are also under new management for the final 2 weeks, Adam Grimes (original owners son) is here to make deals
Also new hours and days
Tue-Sat 10:30-6. Hope to see you all here, even if just to say goodbye to this legacy of a location.
