A Single Girl's Guide To Dating The Doctor

We're weeks away from the debut of Matt Smith in the lead role of Doctor Who. And already the fangirlies are making their expressions of love to him known, after only seeing a very few seconds of him in action.

And Matt Smith is, it seems a single man. No longer dating Brazilian punk singer/actress Mayana Moura, he's about to become Britain's most eligible bachelor. So what do you need to do to snag him?

Well, you probably need to be female. Despite the acknowledged following within gay communities in Britain, Matt Smith seems to be as heterosexual as it gets – and has always been "popular with the ladies" as the tabloids like to put it. Despite looking just a little like someone's been using his head as a doorstop.

Knowing about football. Matt Smith was a very promising young footballer, signed by Nottingham Forest and Leicester City, until he had a back injury. He's still a keen admirer of the game.

Play the guitar. It's one of the things Matt looks for in a woman. You can get lessons  here. He also looks for "a good heart". Of course, Matt's got two, hasn't he?

Have a supply of Cadbury's Mini Eggs on tap. Matt is a devil for them. Not too many that he bloats up Colin Baker-style though. No one wants that.

And in the event that Matt Smith takes on traits of the character he's playing, being a chav from East London, a consort from 14th century Paris, Queen Elizabeth I or an archaeologist from the far flung future probably couldn't hurt.

And remember girls, if you do get the Time Lord in your clutches, do remember that he's bigger on the inside than the outside.
