Booze Geek – Monty Python Holy Grail Ale Doesn't Really Taste Of Burnt Witches

One of the first beers I put on my list to review was Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale. And now I finally got a chance to try it, after my quest to retrieve a shrubbery. According to the label, it is tempered over burning witches.

The Holy Grail Ale is an English-style pale ale. It produced a thin head that did not last for too long, but left a decent amount of residual lacing. It has an amber-brown color with active carbonation easily seen. When I gave it a sniff, I found it gave off a predominantly malty scent with some light sweetness to it.

As I drank the ale, I found no traces of burnt witch. Rather, malt was the strongest flavor present, with a bit of caramel and toffee sweetness noticeable as well. On the palate, it was light bodied and the carbonation was present, but it was easy to drink.

Overall, Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale is a fairly standard but quenching beer. It does not do anything too distinguishing, but it is easy to drink and has a good enough flavor to it.

What to Drink This To:

It would be remiss to enjoy this ale to anything but the classic comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Seemingly every minute of that film something memorable happens, whether it is the Knights Who Say Ni, the killer bunny, the Black Knight or my favorite scene between Lancelot, the King of Swamp Castle and the two inept guards. Therefore, get your some Holy Grail Ale, some coconuts and enjoy the raucous comedy that is Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
