Crossed Day: Two Weeks After
Tomorrow sees the release of a new Crossed Badlands comic by Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows. Here's a look at how some other stores celebrated the release of the first issue…
Alternate Worlds in Cockeysville, MD, saw ownera Mike and Olga go Crossed with their staff. Olga said ""We were talking to the customers about the Crossed: Badlands series during the day, and the party took place in the evening. We had face-painting activities, role-played "episodes of horror", had free pizza and sodas, and introduced a lot of customers to the Crossed comic book series."
Cup O' Kryptonite in Des Moines, Iowa partied hard with free beer as well as the regular coffee. Owner Matt Johnson reports, "We got a good crowd, gave away some good prizes, and made a lot of people happy with Crossed buttons. Holy Cats, did people love those!" His photos show a progression of terrifying events at the store, as faithful employee Ronnie is attacked and transformed into a Crossed, then turns on Matt. "Silly, Ronnie, you can't turn on your employer. You're fired— AAAaaaaghhhh!"
Can a rocket strapped to your back save you from the Crossed plague? The folks who might know work at Jetpack Comics in Rochester, New Hampshire… but they're too busy making monsters themselves! "For C-Day, we hired a make-up artist to come do the Crossed face on one of our actors to make sure it was top notch and not just some smeared fake blood," says Rich Brunelle, the manager of Jetpack Comics. "I have to say, it came out awesome." And we have to agree! In their words, they put together a "violent, horrible, and fantastic" video, which you can see below.

Las Vegas is a city of wild abandon, of risking everything you've got for the sake of winning everything you don't. In the event of a Crossed outbreak (which, let's face it, is going to happen one day or another), the only thing you'd be gambling with is your life — because wild abandon is what the Crossed are all about! Thankfully for the folks at Comic Oasis, they're under the protection of their resident superheroine, Hawt Girl! They celebrated C-Day in a big way, as seen in photos below, and reported at Speak Geeky To Me, an online geek community!
Vigilante Press, a retailer located in Chicago Illinois, is located awfully close to the epicenter of the Crossed outbreak. No, we're not talking about the origin of the virus, which is something that's never been revealed in all the history of Crossed publications. What we mean is, the closest metropolitan area to the Avatar Press headquarters is Chicago.
