Disney Relaunches Disney Stores Built By Apple Store Designers
Do you think you know what a Disney Store is? Jumbled up stacks of Cars toys, a dump bin of Ratatouille DVDs, some frankly disturbing Disney princess dresses in the corner? Everything looking a bit tired, a bit plush, a bit dull?
The designers of the Apple Store have created a new prototype Disney Store in Los Angeles that attempts to give its customers a little more of a "Disney" experience. Which is probably about time, given that Disney sold off all its stores in 2004, bought them back in 2008 and then closed a hundred of them. Something needs to be done.
Aspects include the Pixar Cars-branded car building and customisation section, letting customers essemble their chosen Car character customised in the store with various accessories. And the Disney Princess Magical Mirror resembled a castle with a magic mirror, summoning up Disney Princesses at will. Interactivity will be everywhere, including touchscreen kiosks that tap into social networks.
Ninteen of these stores are scheduled to open this year, including in Chicago, Freehols, Dallas, Garden City, Tampa, San Diego, San Francisco, and a two-story Time Square store scheduled for November.
Disney, please get round to Kingston-Upon-Thames soon. The one in the Bentall Centre is very very tired… and Eve and Alice would love this.
