Is Another Make-Your-Own Variant Cover On The Cards With X-Men #1?

Last weekend, Bleeding Cool showed you how you could make your own Avengers Gatefold Variant Cover selling for $65 for around $5, by combining a bog-standard copy of Avengers #1 with the free gatefold cover prints being given away by retailers, to make something identical to the valued variant. After all, the "print" was just an overrun of the cover, without the guts, it wasn't exactly a forgery, the materials were identical.

One of you told me that he'd successfully sold one for $50. So, you know.

Now it seems the same thing will be happening with the new X-Men #1 in July.

This is the gatefold variant that participating retailers will currently  be able to give away for free ion the run up to July 8th, dubbed X-Men Day.Is Another Make-Your-Own Variant Cover On The Cards With X-Men #1?

It's also the cover for the Paco medina gatefold variant cover, being solicited by Diamond. Look, it's even got a UPC code. And the variant cover already for sale on line for $40 as a preorder…

Expect retailer concern to see a cosmetic change be implemented at some point…
