Midtown On Time Square Not Quite Burning To The Ground (UPDATE)

Midtown On Time Square Not Quite Burning To The Ground (UPDATE)The kitchen of a store at the corner of 40th St and Broadway in New York, underneath Midtown Comics, caught fire earlier today.

Midtown Comics was evacuated and, while there's no news on smoke damage, there are also no reports of anyone being hurt. As I write, there are eight fire trucks at the scene.

Ron Marz tweets "Dear @MidtownComics, don't burn down, that would make my signing Saturday kind of sucky."

That's a terrible thing to say Ron! To suggest that the burning down of a retail environment, and that all the pain and suffering that would cause would be irrelevent when compared to your weekend schedule, why I outta… oh wait, sorry, you were joking. As you were.

UPDATE: Gahl of Midtown gets in touch. He says "Everything is fine. No damage to the store whatsoever. Everyone is fine and we're open for business. We only had to close from about 1:15 – 3:00 PM local time."
