Nerd Food: Satu'li Canteen Inside Disney's Animal Kingdom

Pandora: The World of Avatar opened earlier this year in Disney's Animal Kingdom. This will probably come as no surprise, but Pandora is still crazy busy. But because I have a good idea on how crowds work in Disney World, I managed to get through Pandora's Satu'li Canteen fairly quick. I maybe waited a grand total of 15 minutes between waiting in line and getting my food, so that's saying something. If you must know my trick: eat when there's a parade, or after typical lunch/dinner times. Trust me.

Up until eating here, I hadn't really heard much about the food inside Satu'li Canteen. That's not a bad thing, but I could have also not been looking enough. Either way, I went in with no expectations. Theme-wise, the canteen fits in well with Pandora. It looks like something you would find in Avatar. There's a good selection of food, too, which I've covered before. I opted for the wood-grilled chicken bowl, which consists of wood-grilled chicken thighs marinated with garlic and olive oil topped with crunchy vegetable slaw and boba balls, served with your choice of base and sauce. I picked their charred onion chimichurri with red and sweet potato hash.

Holy crap. This is arguably the healthiest thing I've ever eaten in Disney World, and it was good. Damn good. With a drink I spent around $15, but I sincerely feel like I got my money's worth. The chicken is juicy and melts right in your mouth. The onion chimichurri complements the potato hash well, and the slaw gives everything a nice, sweet kick. Would I get this again? Without hesitation. If you're heading to Pandora in the future, put this on your must-eat list.
