San Diego Comic Con DC Costume Protest To Start With A Harleypalooza
Tomorrow afternoon at San Diego Comic Con, there is going to be a protest walk over the DC relaunch, and specifically some of the costume changes therein. The different look of Harley Quinn has caused much comment from a skintight Harlequin costume to, well, basically a loose corset.
Which is why Bleeding Cool understands that the event will begin with a Harleypalooza. As many women as possible dressed in her old costume. I can hear photographers readying their cameras as I type.
After online criticicism, the organisers responded;
We're NOT walking because we find the costumes offensive. We find them unfitting. We're NOT walking because we "hate everything" about the relaunch/reboot. Whoever said that is misinterpreting the lines below. YES, we KNOW not everything's going to be changed. This is supposed to be a LIGHTHEARTED walk, no super-serious grumpy demonstration stuff.
DC Comics is unlikely to be swayed in their decisions and during meetings with retailers today, were using images of superheroes protesting to demonstrate how much interest there is in the relaunch.
So it may well be playing into DC's hands. But sometimes that's not the point, sometimes you have to make stand. If you're able to in those high heels, Harley.
