Red Sonja And Conan, Together Again, As Dynamite Joins Dark Horse's Digital Comics App
So Dynamite have announced they'll be selling their digital comics on Dark Horse's proprietary digital platform, as well as on ComiXology and Comics Plus.
Odds are Dynamite will be getting slightly better terms than with ComiXology. Dark Horse will get a cut. And Dynamite's pulp and sci-fi comics will appeal directly to an existing and exclusive Dark Horse digital audience. And for the first time, Red Sonja and Conan will sit side by side on a digital comic shelf.
Dynamite is selling this as the biggest announcement in the industry of the year. I think that's rather overselling it, but it does show a cooperation between publishers against the behemoth of ComiXology hoovering up all the digital rights going.
And with the launch of digital graphic novel boutique Sequential on the iPad and iPhone, there are a few more interesting options out there.
The question I'd ask, and it's one that might have more of an industry-changing effect is – who's next? Image? IDW? Boom? They all have comics that might sit happily next to Dark Horse and Dynamite?
And what the hell are Bleeding Cool owners Avatar playing at?
