Exactly How Many Copies Of The Joe Jusko Cover For Valen The Outcast #1 Are Left?
We ran a couple of pieces on the limited edition Joe Jusko CGC slabbed 9.8 cover to Boom's Valen The Outcast #1, how they printed 500 but burnt most of them to keep the numbers available down. Bleeding Cool reported that only 25 stores had ordered enough to get a copy.
Then last week, the CGC Registry was updated, listing 226 copies of the comic in this condition, above. What happened? Since the value of this comic (now north of $200) is dependent on its rarity, what happened? I got in touch with Boom! who insist this is a glitch on CGC's registry and will be fixed next week. I asked for a breakdown of the copies printed and distributed and this is what they gave me.
25 — original Diamond order
11 — this week's Diamond reorder
15 — comps for staff
8 — copies for BOOM! archive
10 — overage in case of shipping damages, either from CGC to Diamond, or from Diamond breaking ones themselves
6 — creator comps
75 — TOTAL
So there it is. Not 25. And not 226. But 75 copies.
Honest.
Now to do the whole thing again for Valen The Outcast #2…
