Conner Kent is the current Superboy of the DC Universe, and whose recent story recently ran in Superboy: Man Of Tomorrow. His adventures also appear in this week's Action Comics #1057 comic book, featuring the Superman family. Spoilers ahead.

Celebrating his thirtieth anniversary of publication, he has hardly aged from the teenage clone of Superman and Lex Luthor, as initially created. Last year, a website article by Joshua Lapin-Bertone promoting said nineties series dubbed him "The Twink Of Steel" in a mailshot that went out to DC Comics subscribers. Joe Glass helped us with the definition. "A twink is a young, hairless man, usually thin/skinny or in otherwise good shape… it's a young, hairless GAY man (or bi)."

His previous return to DC Continuity initially saw him as having a wife and kid in another dimension, revealing him to be playing the role of a widow's husband. On the DC Comics blog back in September, Lapin-Bertone asked the writer of Tim Drake: Robin, Meghan Fitzmartin, "During the DC Pride: Tim Drake Special #1, there is a moment where Tim and Conner Kent are holding hands. So, the question is, are you trying to electrocute Twitter?" Meghan Fitzmartin replied, "(laughs) I mean, who doesn't love setting a fire under Twitter? That's definitely something that I've heard about and am aware of, and it will be more of a discussion point in later issues of certain comic brands that are happening right now."

Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow by Kenny Porter and Jahnoy Lindsay didn't really delve into Conner Kent's relationship with anyone in that fashion.

There were friendships forged in the battle; there was betrayal, there was hugging and learning.

But now, back on Earth with new hair colouring… it's time to rekindle a relationship of old with one M'gann M'orzz – better known as Miss Martian.

Tom King and Kenneth Roquefort would do a Superman/Miss Martian Young Romance comic book series for the New 52 that ever happened. In 2020, Tom Kinf posted "Design for the Return of Superboy by Kenneth Roquefort. This was part of a new52 Superboy series I was supposed to write a bunch of years ago that fell apart for many reasons. The design is still cool, though… This was supposed to be the new Miss Martian. We were going to do a whole Young Justice romance thing. Would've been fun. This character inspired a Durlan named Chimera who was a Titan for a while. Wasn't as fun."

And now this week's Action Comics #1057, with Conner Kent back on Earth and sporting a new hair colour.

Miss Martian and Superboy were both founding members of Young Justice in the animated series, and were a couple in the cartoon. They broke up, reconciled, got engaged and finally married. This also carried over into the Smallville spinoff comic book series Smallville Season 11. But what about the comic books? Not a sign… until now, that is. Looks like there has been another rewriting. As to where this might continue?

The ongoing Superman series, and the upcoming Speed Force… which explains that cover to issue 2… just no one tell Tim he's back, okay?
