Joker Knows Dick Grayson is Nightwing – And Has A Plan (#70 Spoilers)
Today's Batman Secret Files #3 has revealed the Joker's plan to kick off The Joker War. But the journey has many paths, and today's Nightwing #71 shows another path in. We have previously seen that the Joker knows all about who the Batman family are.
And in previous Nightwings, getting hold of a certain memory crystal that holds the secrets to Ric Grayson's lost memories of being Dick Grayson.
Of course, Nightwing #70 was quite a few months ago. So a recap may be worthwhile, since DC Comics don't do those 'previously seen on Buffy The Vampire Slayer' lead-ins.
So, as the Joker makes a play to keep the Batman and his Batling busy in today's Secret Files #3 while he goes after the money (how very Die Hard 3 of him) he leaves teases for Ric Grayson, as he is doing his best to be a Nightwing again.
While the Joker, armed with the knowledge of just who is who – and as we know, promising Ric Grayson's share of the Wayne Foundation to Deathstroke, goes to find where Grayson is vulnerable right now…
While it looks like someone has brought a crowbar to a knife fight.
Wearing one of the Nightwing costumes and wielding the kind of crowbar used to kill Jason Todd, and now carried by Todd as The Red Hood, one of the Joker's former identities.
I'm not sure that Sanctuary had enough processing power to deal with all that. And it seems that the Joker is quite adept at hand combat when dealing with a Ric Grayson operating on the muscle memory of Dick…
While confirming what he knows about Batman and his many Robins. He always knew. He is just choosing now, to know.
Because it looks like the Joker is going to use that memory crystal that turned Dick Grayson into Ric Grayson, to turn him into something else again. A Joker sidekick?
Which may explain the cover to Nightwing #73, currently scheduled for August… but Nightwing #71 is published today.

Having a chat with the Clown Prince of Crime is scary enough…being captured, tied down, and forced to listen to him is something else! Especially when you're Ric Grayson, and The Joker just wants you out of action so he can get to the Dark Knight. With no idea what his history with The Joker might be, Ric doesn't find this situation one bit funny. In Shops: Jun 10, 2020
