Tim Pilcher Becomes Co-Owner Of Comics Publisher Soaring Penguin
Ex-Vertigo and ex-Humanoids editor Tim Pilcher has accepted an offer from British graphic novel and comic publisher Soaring Penguin Press to become co-owner of the publisher alongside current owner John Anderson as it becomes a truly international publisher.
Canadian born Anderson is returning to Canada to open a new officer for the publisher behind the likes of Meanwhile…, To End All Wars, Strangehaven and Breaks.
Pilcher's remit will be to provide marketing services as well as source appropriate material for future publications.
"I couldn't be more thrilled to have Tim on board," says Anderson. "He brings insight and an understanding of the publishing industry that's been sorely needed to take us to the next level." Pilcher replies, "It's a real honour to join the Eisner-nominated Soaring Penguin Press. I have been a fan of their publications for many years and I look forward to helping grow the company's profile and to seek out new collaborations with the cream of the comics community in the coming years. We are living in a new Golden Age of graphic novel diversity and I see Soaring Penguin as being at the forefront of this exciting new wave."
In October, Anderson will be moving to Vancouver, Canada to open the North American office of the publishing company. "Historically, we've published a number of Canadian and American creators. It just makes sense to have a presence closer to the creators."
"With John based in North America and myself in the UK we are looking to expand our publishing list and to ensure the company goes from strength to strength, " agreed Pilcher.
It's sad for me as their offices were about 200 metres from where I live and Anderson was the graphic novel publisher I used to bump into in Asda. They may be a little further away now…
