Tucson Comic-Con Celebrates 8th Annual Con This Weekend
By Michele Brittany,
While attending Stan Lee's Comikaze last weekend, in several conversations I had with local writers and artists, I will typically ask what upcoming shows they are planning to attend. The Tucson Comic-Con being held this weekend, November 6 – 8 at the Tucson Convention Center.
The doors open Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock for the con's preview night followed by an opening night kickoff party. Saturday and Sunday, the doors open at 10 AM and events will include a Geek Film Festival, a car show, cosplay and gaming, programming of approximate 80 panels over the two days, as well as creators, exhibitors and vendors. If you are a wealth of popular culture knowledge then you'll be interested in the Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz on Saturday and the Star Wars Trivia Challenge on Sunday.
Tucson Comic-Con has the distinction of partnering with Tucson's Diamond Children's Center and donating con tickets and early entry to children receiving treatment from the center. The center provides care to infants through teenage youth who suffer from heart disorders, autism, cancer and many other diseases requiring intensive care.
There is still time purchase tickets at the door for daily or weekend passes. Kids 12 and under attend free with a paid adult. Discounts are given to active military and senior citizens. More information about the con can be found at their official website, Facebook page or Twitter.
