Man, they wait until they are on the way out before introducing the Ultimate Universe version of Death's Head. I may be seeing the co-creators of the character, Simon Furman and Geoff Senior, tomorrow, and I will try to get their take. But there is one truly great thing about the Ultimate version of Death's Head, as seen in today's Ultimate Endgame #1 if you can get past the blind bags…

He's basically exactly the same as the non-Ultimate version of Death's Head, just with less sticky-out horns.

Death's Head, the robotic bounty hunter who insists on being referred to as a "Freelance Peacekeeping Agent, yes?" was created by Simon Furman and Geoff Senior for Marvel UK's Transformers comics in the late 1980s. A large, mechanoid bounty hunter with a skull-like face and a sarcastic, profit-driven demeanour. He crossed over into the main Marvel Universe through encounters with the Seventh Doctor Who and by travelling in time and relative dimensions, shrinking somewhat in size. He starred in his own solo series in 1988, interacted with characters like Iron Man and Dragon's Claws, before being revamped as Death's Head II in the Marvel UK nineties boom. The original remains the most beloved for its humorous, verbose dialogue and unique design, and has made sporadic appearances in modern Marvel stories, including Guardians of the Galaxy and Iron Man, at the whim of the series' writers, from Kieron Gillen to Brian Michael Bendis, which is presumably how he turned up in Ultimate Endgame courtesy of Deniz Camp. It always needs a certain… will for him to be brought back. Come on Kevin Feige, give this character to Guy Ritchie…

And not Death's Head 1, 2 or 3.0, this is Death's Head 22… just as the Ultimate Universe is going out of fashion, yes? Might be worth a detour to a less turbulent dimension…
