Will Iris West Write Wally West's Obituary? (Batman #65 Spoilers)
Wally West died in Heroes In Crisis. Probably. Most people didn't seem to notice or took an age to get round to realising. Indeed, over in Flash, Iris West only just found out. There are still much that is dodgy about all that, as Bleeding Cool has kinda been saying from the beginning. Also, Iris West only just found out about Wally West even existing, everyone had forgotten him, thanks to a certain Dr Manhattan.
Actually, that reminds me. I once write a comic called Watchmensch where I had a Dr Manhattan character called 1600 Broadway who was basically a stand-in for previous DC publisher/president Paul Levitz do all manner of awful things. You don't suppose that Geoff Johns similarly used Dr Manhattan in DC Rebirth as a being who is essentially responsible for the DC reboot, everyone forgetting Wally West and, thanks to bringing back Thomas Wayne, getting rid of Nightwing too – as some kind of analogue for Dan DiDio, the man behind the DC's New 52 reboot?
Hmmm. Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, Batman #65. A Heroes In Crisis and Flash crossover. Because even though she technically only just learned that a) Wally West ever existed and now b) that he is dead, someone has to write his obituary. And since no one else seems to remember him, it might as well be her.
And hopefully more than just 'it's Batman's fault, it's Batman's fault, it's Batman's fault, again and again and again.' Mind you, that's if she's even given a chance… I mean, where do you start now? In the beginning seems so inadequate…
Attacked by Gotham Girl, yes that's all Dan DiDio Dr Manhattan's fault too…
