Wolverine & The X-Men – A Sneak Zero Issue?
This week's Wolverine & The X-Men is set during Avengers Vs X-Men, but before the current conflagration. Unlike Avengers and Uncanny X-Men, also published today, it can be read happily before you get around to Avengers Vs X-Men #11. Indeed Avengers seems to be set well after Avengers Vs X-Men #12, so good luck searching for clues. Yes, we had no AVX books last week, and four today. That's how it works.
But Wolverine & The X-Men does something different. As well as taking us through the Hellfire Creche Club's current anti-mutant activities, with their range of Sentinels for every occasion, the comic gets in synch with DC's current publishing plans and delivers us a zero issue all of its very own, the origin of Kade Kilgore. The moment that turned him into the monster he is today. And as ever, it started with the death of a parent. All terribly Roman.
Kilgore doesn't choose to dress up as a bat or get fired to another planet. He just… takes advantage of his unique situation.
Beautifully written, expertly crafted, coloured with a real sense of storytelling, it's all rather good…
