Gwent's Single-Player Campaign Has Been Delayed Into Next Year
Gwent is a great little spinoff of The Witcher 3. The card game is really unique, and it's slowly grown a community in the game's beta. However, coming from CD Projekt Red, fans are expecting some of the RPG elements that the developer is known for. That's also coming with the yet-to-be-released single-player campaign, but sadly, we're going to be waiting a little longer for it.
It's been announced that the mode, known as Thronebreaker, is getting pushed back into 2018. In a letter on the game's website, CD Projekt Red said:
Thronebreaker, GWENT's story-driven single player campaign, is moving to 2018. We decided to increase the campaign's scope and need more time to work on it. Shifting release windows is always something we approach seriously, however, we'll never hesitate to do it if we feel you'll get a better game as a result. I would like to apologize everyone who planned to play Thronebreaker over the Holidays — I assure you that we will do our best to make the final game worth the additional wait.
They also added that since the game is rolling towards a full release in 2018, multiplayer updates, with things from content to patches and rebalancing, will be hitting much more frequently.
I'm very much looking forward to Gwent coming out of beta and seeing it flourish. It's a shame the single player is missing this year, but if it's to expand the scope, I don't think many will be complaining.
