A Pokemon Live Action Movie Is Finally Moving Forward But It Probably Isn't What You Are Thinking

Talk of a live action Pokemon film have circulated for a long time. Of recent years, that talk has centered squarely on Legendary Pictures. While it's hard to envision in live action, the idea of a journey through a traditional Pokemon story in film form is quite interesting. Having a boy setting off to become the best there ever was, but in "real life" has filled minds of many for 20 years now.

Well, it seems that movie is finally happening, but if you yearned to see Ash take those steps out of Pallet Town, you'll be disappointed. Instead, the Hollywood Reporter are saying that the long running deal between Legendary Pictures and The Pokemon Company has finally been struck, and the movie will focus on Detective Pikachu. The character made his game debut in Detective Pikachu early this year in Japan, and he is a bit…peculiar, albeit more intelligent than other Pokemon. He even talks.

It's already being called a franchise, and it's being fast tracked to start production in 2017 thanks to the monumental success of Pokemon Go. So get comfy for lots of these.
