A24, Atomic Monster, Chernin, 21 Laps Team Up For Film The Backrooms
A24 is teaming up with Atomic Monster and others to bring 17 year old Kane Parsons found footage series The Backrooms to theaters.
A24 is partnering with Atomic Monster, Chernin, and 21 Laps to produce a new horror film from 17-year-old director Kane Parsons. The Backrooms will be based on Parsons YouTube found footage series, which has topped 100 million views on the streaming service to date. Parsons will direct from a script by Roberto Patino (DMZ), who will also produce. The actual plot of the film is being kept secret. Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Dan Levine are producing for 21 Laps Entertainment. Lucas Ford from 21 Laps brought the project into the company. James Wan and Michael Clear are producing for Wan's Atomic Monster, with Judson Scott executive producing and Alayna Glasthal overseeing for the company. Chris White brought the project to Atomic Monster and will be executive producing.

I love that last little bit about him directing the film during his summer vacation. I cannot wait to hear more about this one as it gets further into development.
