[#CinemaCon] 'Deadpool 2' Teases Wolverine Team-Up, Kind of
During the 20th Century FOX presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, a brand new Deadpool 2 trailer was shown, with a pretty important cameo appearance.
The panel started with a song and dance number inspired by "One" from A Chorus Line. Footage of course is pretty much non-existent, but there are one or two short clips kicking around on Twitter if you can find them. (Spoiler- we did.)
Anyhow, onto the Wolverine bit-
Hugh Jackman, aka Wolverine, showed up wearing a robe and brushing his teeth. Deadpool is there in a trashed hotel room, and he starts to make fun of CinemaCon and calling it 'self congratulatory'.
The description from BC's own Kaitlyn Booth (who's at CinemaCon right now):
There is a passed out man next to him and he calls him Chris something from Fox. The CEO wakes up and says that he is running late and he's dressed like the Greatest Showman. Jackman walks in in a robe with the CEO and Deadpool and eventually the CEO leaves. Jackman and Deadpool have a brief conversation about getting pancakes and that Jackman is a actor so he gets robes for free
The footage shown today also had Deadpool auditioning for a new super duper hero group, along with DP taking a stab at both the DCEU AND the MCU. He says to Cable- "This is dark. Sure you're not from the DC Universe?"
The looming Disney-FOX merger was glossed over. "Today, we face a new transition- a potential merger- that will have implications for the movie business. I have no more insight into this transaction than you do," FOX Chairman Stacey Snider said about the possibility.
This could very well be the last solo FOX presentation, by this time next year the merger may have happened.
Needless to say, the dream of having Wolverine and Deadpool in a film together is probably never going to happen, and that this is the closest we'll get. But. One can hope.
Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18th.
