Donald Glover Says He Would "Love" to Play Lando in a Solo Movie

The internet blew up for a short time a little while ago when it seemed like a Lando solo movie was confirmed. It turned out that wasn't the case, and everyone deflated just a little. While it doesn't look like a Lando movie is immediately in the cards at the moment, Solo: A Star Wars Story star Donald Glover told Entertainment Weekly he would be more than willing to return to the character.

"It would always be fun to be Lando again," says Glover about getting his own film. "I would love to do it again. It's really fun. The movie, I feel like, is wide open. This part of the universe without the… I feel like with the Skywalkers, it's hard, because it's almost like the Bible. There's a story that you have to tell, and the lineage of that family. I feel like out here its like, yeah, we're just like husters and gamblers and space pirates, essentially, so you can do a lot more and have a lot more fun. And I like those movies a lot. I like the comedy of them, the silliness and also the adventure. I think it would just be fun to do."

Glover isn't just a talented actor but a talented writer and director as well (not to mention musician). It's not uncommon for writers and directors to star in their own movie, and Glover was asked if he was interested in writer or directing a Lando movie.

"I mean, yeah. I think it would be fun to do," says Glover. "It would be cool to see, like, Frasier in Space — like, a high-end guy in space. All of these characters are very specific and they have very specific points of view, so it's always going to be fun to see them traveling around to a planet that is the opposite of what they're used to…. And all of that seems like it would be fun to write, for sure. But it also is nice to not have to write that. It's also nice to just, you know, show up in a cape and get pointed in the right direction."

The reviews for Solo: A Star Wars Story are coming in, and everyone is praising Glover for his portrayal of Lando Calrissian. We'd love to see more of Glover in the Star Wars universe, and Lando is a character that would be fun to explore more.

Summary: During an adventure into a dark criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion.

Solo: A Star Wars Story, directed by Ron Howard, stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, and Thandie Newton. It will be released May 25th.
