First Look At Kingsman: The Golden Circle's Villain Played By Julianne Moore
We finally have some new information on Kingsman: The Golden Circle which is due out this September. We only know a few details about this movie as we wait for the next trailer but Empire has a new image and a bunch of new information about Poppy played by Julianne Moore. Director Matthew Vaughn wanted to maker sure he has a great villain for his sequel.
"She's America's sweetheart gone wrong. I thought it would be fun to see her play this kooky, sweet, Stepford Wives-style villain that, at the same time, is lethal and crazy and intelligent," says Vaughn. "Julianne is a fascinating actress. She can play wholesome so well, but also pretty crazy and tough. She was in my head as I was writing."
She's a criminal who runs her organization out of a 1950's diner called Poppyland and she really does look like something out of the Stepford Wives.
The idea for Poppy and her plan came to Vaughn when he agreed to direct the sequel.
"I was worried about the villain," he says. "Spy films are only as good as their villains. What I loved about Valentine [the bad guy in the first movie, played by Samuel L. Jackson] is that his plot made sense. I've come up with a whole new villain plot that I guarantee people will be debating."
We'll learn more about what Poppy's plan is when the next trailer drops, which should be soon, and when the movie comes out this fall.
