New Flash Image Brings Up Important Question… How Did Wally West Get His Speed?

On Saturday, the Flash Brasil posted this image of Flash (Grant Gustin) and Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) running side-by-side with the title: 'Lightning Strikes Twice'. Which brings up a question that the show has yet to answer. How did Wally West get his powers? The easy answer would be that he got them the same way as Jesse Wells (Violett Beane) got hers when the simulated the lightning strike / particle accelerator explosion to give Barry Allen back his powers after Zoom (Teddy Sears) to them away. But is that the case?

Jesse left Earth-1 before Barry went back and created Flashpoint, so she was unaffected by the changes. During Flashpoint, Wally was Kid Flash but it wasn't explained how he got his powers since Barry changed everything and didn't have S.T.A.R. Labs and all of that to recreate the scenario that gave Jesse her powers. So how did THAT Wally get his abilities? And when Barry put things back, Wally didn't have powers until he got them by touching the Philosopher's Stone. The stone was used by Alchemy and Savitar to give powers to the people who had them during Flashpoint but not now. It didn't give anyone powers who didn't have them before.

So did the stone give Wally his powers or did it just unleash the powers he had during Flashpoint which brings us back to the question of how did Wally have his powers during Flashpoint?

Time travel is why we can't have nice things.
