New Special Look at the Live-Action Remake of Aladdin Now with a Blue Will Smith
Disney has released some new footage from the upcoming live-action remake of the 1992 animated classic, Aladdin. It's not quite a new trailer since it is a bit on the short side, but there is a bunch of new footage. We see a new shot of Jafar, the magic carpet, and a good look at the Genie, as played by Will Smith, in all of his blue glory. There were a lot of people angry that Smith wasn't blue in the first images that were released and now we have some blue. It looks, well, interesting.
Despite the fact that the Genie is getting destroyed by people, the rest of this movie really does look interesting in terms of design. The costumes still look like something you would see in a Bollywood production, which is a very interesting way to go about remaking this world for live-action. It doesn't look like anything Western audiences would be familiar with and maybe that will be enough to get people over this aversion to a few of the unpopular creative decisions.
Summary: A live-action retelling of the 1992 Disney film of the same name.
Aladdin, directed by Guy Ritchie, stars Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Will Smith, Marwan Kenzari, and Numan Acar. It will be released on May 24th, 2019.
