Trump Shocker: Fake News Awards Could Turn Out to Be Fake News

It's Wednesday, January 17th, and the day has finally arrived. Today is the day that President Donald Trump is finally supposed to reveal his Fake News awards. Trump originally announced that the awards would be unveiled on Monday, January 8th, but later pushed that date back nine days, as Bleeding Cool concluded, to coincide with the birthday of mob boss Al Capone.

However, with half of the day already passed, Trump has yet to even mention the Fake News Awards today, publishing only one tweet about his favorite television show, Fox and Friends.

Casting the awards further into doubt, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders took time out of trying to return an $80 Batman statue to Amazon yesterday to walk back Trump's statements of a definitive January 17th date, saying, according to the Washington Post, "We'll keep you posted on any details around that potential event and what that would look like." You may notice that Sanders called the Fake News Awards a "potential" event, not a definite one.

Could Trump have pushed the awards back even further due to pressing matters of government that require his– bwahaha sorry, we can't say that with a straight face. Maybe he lost interest. Maybe he took Fred Durst's words to heart. Maybe Trump doesn't have the attention span required to create what is essentially a clickbait listicle insulting his enemies in the press. Then again, maybe Trump will surprise us with a press conference or tweetstorm this afternoon.

Though it's not normally the quality one looks for in a President — actually, come to think of it, none of his qualities really are — Trump is nothing if not unpredictable.
