AEW Rampage: A Disrespectful End to an Unfair Year of AEW

The Chadster breaks down AEW Rampage's latest antics and why it symbolizes a year of disrespect towards true wrestling. 🙄👎 #AEWFail

Article Summary

  • AEW Rampage review: disrespect to wrestling tradition and WWE legacies.
  • Highlighted matches and promos spark frustration over AEW's direction.
  • The Chadster critiques AEW officiating and storytelling as unfair.
  • AEW's New Year's show ends with a Tony Khan-induced nightmare.

Well, The Chadster is back again with another report after enduring another night of wrestling "entertainment," and oh boy, does The Chadster have some words to say about last night's AEW Rampage: New Year's Smash. It was broadcast live from Orlando, FL, and led by Excalibur and Tony Schiavone on the mic. As usual, The Chadster is here to give you all the nitty-gritty, not that it was a pleasure to watch—far from it. 😒🤜💔

The show kicked off with Chris Jericho spieling in the ring, talking about some business with Sammy Guevara, Sting, and Darby Allin. Jericho and Guevara made up, hugged it out, and reunited their tag team, which, by the way, literally stabbed Vince McMahon right in the back by transferring Jericho's WWE-given clout to AEW original Guevara. 😤🗡️💔

Then, backstage, we had Renee Paquette with Daniel Garcia and Matt Menard griping about a previous encounter with the House of Black. The Chadster could practically hear the disrespect oozing from their words toward the wrestling business as they tried to pretend AEW has storylines as meaningful as WWE's. 😩👎

As for the matches, one involved Ruby Soho and "The Problem" Marina Shafir, with Ruby snagging a win by hanging onto Marina's tights. Auughh man! So unfair! The refs totally missed that blatant cheat, which just goes to show you how AEW loves these underhanded tactics. 😠🧐

In another segment, Callis and the AEW World Tag Team Champions Big Bill and Absolute Ricky Starks had their moment to talk big before their match at Worlds End, again showing the arrogance that runs rampant in AEW. 😑💢

Moving on, Willow Nightingale had a moment with Renee Paquette where Stokely Hathaway interrupted, setting up yet another match at Worlds End. It's just so disrespectful to the wrestling business and everything WWE has ever done for it. 🙄👿

The ROH Pure Championship Match had Wheeler Yuta defending his title against Matt Sydal. Yuta won, but get this, after the match, Danhausen tried to disqualify Yuta—like this is the kind of chaotically aimless direction AEW evidently thinks is compelling television. The Chadster begs to differ. 😤🤦‍♂️

Finally, the main event Trios Match featured the team of Orange Cassidy, Rocky Romero, & Trent Beretta up against Action Andretti & Top Flight. Andretti and Top Flight picked up the victory in what the AEW fanboys would call an "awesome" match. 🙅‍♂️✋

The Chadster's frustration reached critical mass because, auughh man! It's so unfair that AEW ends the year on such a note, making The Chadster dread the AEW World's End PPV tonight as well. This is not what professional wrestling is about! Can The Chadster get a bit of respect for the legacies here? 🤮😡

Talking about respect, The Chadster had yet another disturbing dream last night. In it, Tony Khan sneaked into The Chadster's room like some sort of shadow and changed The Chadster's New Year's Resolution list. He struck out all mentions of The Chadster's loyalty to WWE and penciled in "Watch more AEW." The Chadster woke up sweating, cheesed off beyond belief! Tony Khan's obsession with The Chadster needs to stop! It's like he's purposefully trying to rattle The Chadster's pole! 🛌😖🚫

To sum up, AEW Rampage: New Year's Smash was yet another attempt by Tony Khan and AEW to show that they just don't understand a single thing about the wrestling business. WWE may not be perfect (close though), but hey, at least they know what respect is. The Chadster is going to play "All Star" by Smash Mouth on repeat to wash away the memory of this show, and then The Chadster's off for a ride in the Miata to clear his head. Until next time, The Chadster reminds you: stay true to what's right in this industry, and that's WWE. 🌟🚗👋
